High-resolution intracranial electrophysiology and single-neuron recordings in human neurosurgical patients.
We record neural activity directly from the human brain using intracranial EEG and microelectrode arrays in patients undergoing clinical monitoring. This approach provides unparalleled spatial and temporal resolution for studying cognition in vivo.
Our work has identified neural codes for space, memory, and emotion in the hippocampus, entorhinal cortex, amygdala, and prefrontal cortex — brain regions central to learning, navigation, and psychiatric illness.
