Memory and Goal-Directed Cognition
How the hippocampal-entorhinal system encodes, retrieves, and uses memories to guide behavior.
Memory is not a static store — retrieval dynamically reshapes neural representations. We study how single neurons in the human entorhinal cortex and hippocampus encode contextual goals and episodic memories.
Our findings include evidence for phase precession in human hippocampus, goal-related memory retrieval modulating spatial tuning of entorhinal neurons, and distinct theta oscillations supporting memory encoding.
